The Synology DiskStation DS1825+ is an eight-bay desktop NAS enclosure for teams that need centralised storage, backup and file services with room to expand. It uses an AMD Ryzen V1500B 4-core, 8-thread processor at 2.2 GHz and includes 8 GB of DDR4 ECC SODIMM memory, expandable to 32 GB across two slots. Two 2.5GbE ports provide built-in network connectivity, while two M.2 2280 NVMe slots support compatible SSD cache without using the main drive bays. A PCIe 3.0 expansion slot accepts supported networking adapters, and two DX525 units can extend the system to 18 drive bays. The enclosure is diskless: compatible 3.5-inch SATA HDDs or 2.5-inch SATA SSDs are sold separately. Confirm each drive and adapter against Synology’s current compatibility list before ordering, and plan the storage and network installation with a qualified professional.
